Frequently Asked Questions
Why do we need this tax?
To fund projects that create jobs and improve Trenton’s economy.
What is considered "administrative fees"?
Only up to 25% of the revenue generated can be used on administrative fees. This could include hiring employees to maintain new developments, office equipment, and new positions. Without this, projects would lack the personnel needed to bring them to life.
Will the tax be permanent?
No, it has a 10-year sunset clause and must be renewed by voters.
How can we trust the funds will be spent appropriately?
A citizen-led oversight board ensures transparency.
Does this fund retail shopping centers?
No, it only develops economic development projects. Retail development can only be funded if in a historic area.
What is the projected revenue from this sales tax?
The estimated annual revenue is $400,000, with 50% of that revenue being generated by visitors to Trenton purchasing goods.
